Our History
The Hot Stove League was first conceived in 1935 by sports editor Karl Artman of Selma, Alabama. Alliance became the first Ohio city to receive a charter on November 18, 1937. Cy Butler of the Alliance Review later purchased the franchise and moved National Hot Stove League headquarters to Alliance. After Butler's death in 1965, leaders active in Hot Stove baseball incorporated Ohio Hot Stove Baseball League, Inc. and continued the program's commitment to organized baseball and community participation.
